Saint-Maclou-la-Campagne is a romantic and well preserved early 17th Century Château, set in the lush verdant countryside of Upper Normandy. This green and fertile corner of France is well known for its the stud farms or haras which dot the countryside, and also for the cider and Calvados that is brewed in almost every farm. Normandy is also famous for its rich and delicious cuisine, and the cheeses it produces in variety and abundance.
When choosing a property they say 'location, location, location' and the location of the Château de Saint-Maclou could not be better. The Château sits in the centre of its own parkland, affording views of ancient lime avenues and horses grazing in the distance. Situated on the edge of the village of Saint-Maclou, which boasts a good restaurant (la Cremaillère), a baker (for croissants) and a butcher. Six kilometres away lies the small market town of Beuzeville, where there are good shops, three bakers, and two supermarkets complete with petrol stations. Good restaurants abound in the area. There are several with Michelin stars within driving distance, and the towns of Honfleur, Deauville and Trouville are famous for their restaurants and café life. The beautiful city of Rouen is only an hour away, and Deauville airport is only 30 minutes away, making the Château extremely easily accessible for those flying in.
